Q1. How can I know my BT-Q770 BT GPS's status via the LED indication?
A1.

Bluetooth LED: (for making connection with PDA/smart phone)
Blue light is flashing every 3 seconds means the you are failed to make connection between PDA/smart phone and BT GPS receiver.
Blue light is flashing every 1 second means the Bluetooth connection with PDA/smart phone is established completely.
Satellite LED: (for positioning and battery indication)
Red light steady on means GPS tracking function has been activated.
Red light is flashing continuously means your PDA/smart phone have received enough satellite data from Bluetooth GPS, then you can start to do the navigation.
When BT GPS receiver is under charging mode: Green light is steady on means battery is fully charged; Orange light is on means your Bluetooth GPS receiver is being charged for battery.
Green light is flashing means battery power is low.

Q2. How can I use the testing program to test my Bluetooth GPS Receiver function is worked or not?

A2.

Pls get the testing program attached in the CD or Qstarz website. There are two kinds of testing programs. One is for testing on Windows CE OS, and the other is for testing on PC Windows OS.

1.BtGpsTester_for Win CE OS:
***Pls make sure your PDA and BT-Q770 is connected and paired properly.

1.Unzip the "BtGpsCe for Win CE.rar" and save the "BtGpsCe.exe" file to your Pocket PC.

2.Execute "BtGpsCe.exe"

3.Set the COM port your PDA assigned, ex. COM8, and press "Open" to run this program (To get the COM port your PDA assign, long press the icon of "BT_GPS: SPP slave" to get assigned COM port, typically it is COM 8).

4.Then you can test the BT-Q770 hardware is worked or not by checking the how many satellite quantity is received and also the strength of satellite signal each.

2. Bluetooth NctLite_for PC Windows:
***Pls make sure your PC have Bluetooth function or have Bluetooth adaptor to enable Bluetooth function. And make Bluetooth connection ready between BT-Q770 and Bluetooth enabled PC.

1.Unzip the ╳=Bluetooth NctLite_for PC.rar╳“ and execute the program.

2.Press the "COM" button and you can select correct COM Port and Baud rate. The COM port is assigned from your Bluetooth dongle to give a COM port to your BT-Q770. Then set baud rate at 38400.

3.Press "OPEN" button then press "Cold Start" to start to see if you can receive satellite quality and the strength.

 
Q3. How to use my PDA / Window mobile to make a Bluetooth connection for Tom Tom?
A3.

Pls firstly make sure the Bluetooth conenction is established between your PDA/smart phone and BT-Q770. After pairing suceeded, you will be found "BT GPS" in your Smart phone/PDA pairing list. Then make it connected.

For Tom Tom 5
1. Select "Change Preference" on the menu. Select "Show GPS status" and then select &Configure* on the bottom right corner. The GPS should be set-up as 'Other Bluetooth GPS' (For some HP PDA, it might require you to set 'Other Cable NMEA GPS', other than "Other Bluetooth GPS"), and then select the Bluetooth COM port. (pls refer to "GPS Products > Bluetooth GPS Receiver > Q5" for the current com port, or double check on your PDA's Bluetooth Manager for Outbound COM port)
2. Back to GPS status screen - check left upper corner. Does it show " No GPS device" or " No Valid GPS signal " ?
If "No GPS device" it means you didn't connect the BT-Q770 with PDA/smart phone right, Pls. will try again Bluetooth connect.
If " No Valid GPS signal" , Pls. will go outdoor and make sure the BT-Q770 with Red LED flashing continuously and this means BT-Q770 can receive GPS signal correctly.
Below is some general information for your reference about BT-Q770.
1. Simple procedure to start up BT-Q770 with your PDA/Smart phone
Long press Power button to power on BT-Q770. (Red LED steady on, Bluetooth LED flashing every 3 seconds) Turn on your Bluetooth function of smart phone/PDA then search new Bluetooth device. You will be found BT GPS and do the pairing. You might be asked to type password 0000 if necessary. After pairing successfully, Blue LED must be flashing every one second. Then you can open your navigation software to check if receiving satellite data from BT-Q770.(If done the receiving data, Red LED flashing continuously, Blue LED flashing every one second) It might take some time around 3~20 min. for positioning depending on your environment.(Pls also refer to the user's guide of navigation software for GPS setting)(If Blue LED isn't flashing every one second, that means the Bluetooth link is disconnected. Pls reconnect it.)
2. BT-Q770 LED indication status for your information:
a. Bluetooth LED: (for making connection with PDA/smart phone)
(1) Blue light is flashing every 3 seconds means the you are failed to make connection between PDA/smart phone and BT GPS receiver.
(2) Blue light is flashing every 1 second means the Bluetooth connection with PDA/smart phone is established completely.
2. Satellite LED: (for positioning and battery indication)
(1) Red light steady on means GPS tracking function has been activated.
(2) Red light is flashing continuously means your PDA/smart phone have received enough satellite data from Bluetooth GPS, then you can start to do the navigation.
(3) When BT GPS receiver is under charging mode: Green light is steady on means battery is fully charged; Orange light is on means your Bluetooth GPS receiver is being charged for battery
(4) Green light is flashing means battery power is low.

3. Notice when using BT-Q770 with your handheld device
1. Pls make sure you are under outdoors and wide open space to use BT-Q770.
2. Pls make sure your PDA/smart phone and Bluetooth GPS Receiver is connected and paired properly.
3. Pls check if your Bluetooth GPS Receiver's LED indication is displayed correctly.
4. Pls make sure your navigation software's Bluetooth function is on.
5. If above examination can't solve your question, try to re-start your PDA/smart phone and repeat point 2 and point 4.

 
Q4. How to use my Smart phone mobile to make a Bluetooth connection for Tom Tom?
A4.

Firstly, ensure that the Smartphone and GPS are paired (for instructions on this, get as below).

Nokia Smartphone
Turn on both the GPS and your PDA. Go into the 'Connectivity' screen on your Nokia, select 'Options' and then 'New Paired Device'. Select BT GPS from the list and enter the passkey '0000' (four zero's) when prompted. Once the code has been entered, set the device to 'Authorized'.
The GPS is now paired with the Nokia Smartphone.
For information regarding connecting to your GPS software, select the 'Back' button on your browser to return to the software-specific page.

Sony Ericsson Smartphone

1. In the Application view, tap on CONTROL PANEL, CONNECTIONS tab, BLUETOOTH 2. Tab the SETTING tab and set Bluetooth to ON.

2.Select the DEVICES tab and press ADD

3. The phone stars searching for Bluetooth devices. Make sure that the BT-Q880 is in paring mode.

4.When the BT-Q880 becomes visible in the AVAILABLE DEVICES menu, tap it.

5.Enter the PASSKEY (0000 by default) and press DONE. On the screen, BONDING COMPLETED appears.

6.Tap DONE and BT-Q880 is added to the list of Bluetooth devices and is ready to use.

Once paired, open TomTom Mobile 5 and select 'Change Preferences' from the menu. Select 'Show GPS Status', and then select 'Configure' on the bottom right corner. The GPS should be set-up as 'Other Bluetooth GPS', and then select the Bluetooth port on your mobile device.

For Tomtom, (navigation software in your PDA/smart phone)
Back to GPS status screen - check left upper corner. Does it show " No GPS device" or " No Valid GPS signal " ?
If "No GPS device" it means you didn't connect the BT-Q770 with PDA/smart phone right, Pls. will try again Bluetooth connect.
If " No Valid GPS signal" , Pls. will go outdoor and make sure the BT-Q770 with Red LED flashing continuously and this means BT-Q770 can receive GPS signal correctly.
